Math help in Tampa, FL

For some students, one of the most challenging aspects of school life is having to memorize names, dates and concepts exactly as they are. If you need a bit of help with this, don’t worry! Mnemonic devices are memorization techniques that can help you remember all of that information.

There are a vast variety of mnemonic devices out there and in this post, The Tutoring Center in Tampa Bay will share a few of them with you. Find one that suits you and your learning style best, to have a more successful learning experience.

Mnemonic Devices

Draw an image related to the concepts that you’re trying to memorize. For example, if you need to learn the water cycle, you can illustrate an ocean, clouds and a sun to remember the 3 states liquids go through.

This is one of the most commonly used mnemonic devices. To use it, all you have to do is create a new word or phrase using the lessons you were taught. For example, BEMDAS is used to remember the order of operations in math.

If you have a musical affinity, this can be the memorization technique for you! Make up a tune and lyrics to remember the information you need. It can be an epic song detailing the events on the War of the Roses, for example.

This last one requires you to relate a piece of information that you want to remember, with another one in a way that makes sense. For example, to memorize that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, think: “bells and telephones ring”.
