Math help in Tampa, FL

There’s no denying that even today, television has a pretty big impact on our day-to-day lives. However, allowing your child to sit in front of it all day is probably not the best idea. After all, this can take time away from other activities they could be doing to stay mentally and physically healthy. If you’d like a bit of guidance on how you can manage the relationship between your child and the TV, follow the tips mentioned below.

How to Manage Television for Your Child

  1. Before anything else, you need to lead by example. If you give your child some advice and then do the exact opposite, it’s likely that they won’t listen to you, so do your best to be the role model they need.
  2. How much and when they watch TV is also important. To help you with this, you can create a schedule in which you allow them to watch around 2 hours of TV a day. Just make sure not to let them watch TV until they’re done with their responsibilities, while they’re eating, or an hour before bedtime.
  3. Of course, there’s no denying that the content they watch should be moderated (suited to their interests, age, and needs). If possible, try to convince them to watch quality programs that will allow them to learn something.
  4. While your child is watching TV, have conversations about what they’re watching so they’re aware of what they’re consuming for example the shows, ads, the characters and so on. Something as simple as asking “do you think the main character should’ve done that?” can spark in them an interest to watch TV in a conscious way.
  5. Encourage your child to do other things aside from watching TV. For example, you can take them to the park so they can run around, or motivate them to read by giving them a book that’s suited to their interest and reading level. You can even enroll them in tutoring in Tampa Bay so they can reinforce their academic knowledge.
